The Election Co-nect Project
Schools interested in participating in this free
educational project can begin by going to:
http://exchange.co-nect.net/election. The Election
Co-nection Project can be implemented in either one of
two stages. The first activity, Vote for President, is
open to students in all grades. In this activity,
between the dates of October 18-22, students can go
online and vote for the candidate of their choice --
either George W. Bush or John Kerry.
In the second activity, Create a Candidate, students in
middle or high school can nominate a fictitious
presidential candidate to run in a virtual election.
During this project, students will complete a series of
activities to learn what an actual presidential nominee
must consider as he/she runs for the highest office in
the country. Students are able to nominate fictitious
candidates until October 8, and then vote for their
favorite candidate from October 11 through October 15,
2004.
The Election Co-nection Project also offers a myriad of
online and offline activities for students in grades
K-12 to learn about voting, the election process, and
democracy. Share this link (http://exchange.co-nect.net/election)
with teachers in your school or add to your favorites or
class web page.
What are you waiting for, get out and

Learn Day - Call for Speakers
The Global Learn Day (GLD) organizing committee is
seeking presenters for Global Learn Day VIII -- to
showcase exceptional educational content, tools and
practices -- from around the world!
GLD VIII will take place on Sunday, November 21, 2004
GLD is a 24-hour non-stop online webcast event, which
features approximately 60 panels from all corners of the
globe. GLD starts in the South Pacific – where the
planet begins the new day - then "travels" west to
Hawaii and Guam. At each "stop," panelists convene for
interactive roundtable discussions, which showcase
exceptional learning programs. Global Learn Day is like
the "Academy Awards for Education" -- it's a time and
space to celebrate the greatest achievements in global
learning.
