::>International Schools CyberFair 2005 - Prepare for
the Future & Connect Communities
-for grades 3-12 (ages 8-19)
-co-sponsored by the World Future Society
-focus on local community topics including local
history, culture, business, leaders
"The best way to predict the future is to invent it."
-Alan Kay, renown researcher and visionary
In partnership with the World Future Society, the theme
for CyberFair 2005 is "Prepare and Unite!" Students are
encouraged to prepare for the future - by thinking about
their own future plans, the conditions that will affect
the future of their community, and issues of global
importance. Projects that best illustrate "future
thinking" will be invited to the World Future Society
international conference in Chicago, July 2005.
International Schools CyberFair is an award-winning,
authentic learning program used by schools and youth
organizations around the world. Youth conduct research
and publish their findings on the Web. Recognition is
given to the best projects in each of eight categories:
local leaders, businesses, community organizations,
historical landmarks, environment, music, art, and local
specialties. This White House endorsed program
encourages youth to become community ambassadors by
working collaboratively and using technology to share
what they have learned. Students evaluate each other's
projects by using a unique online evaluation tool.
CyberFair encourages youth to connect the knowledge they
learn in school to real world applications.
Now in its 10th year, CyberFair is the largest
educational event of its kind ever held on the Internet.
This program brings together more than one million
students across 100 countries and has affiliate projects
throughout the US, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Pakistan,
Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Poland, Mexico and
Cameroon.
